    Having the exact date makes the pictures seem more real somehow. I always think it’s odd that “then” was “now” for all these people!

    The photos from Scheveningen look like they were taken on the beach (with perhaps a temporary matting put down?) – a cold north sea wind would also explain the extra layers of clothing!
