Dad joined the Canadian Army after being turned down by the American Army (“Our ‘Indian contingent’ is full…”). Despite the fact that Dad was Indian and from Bombay, the Canadian Army welcomed him. Canada so impressed him that after graduating from MIT, he came to Canada and made his life here. He was proud of his service as a Sapper, but rarely talked of all the horrors he had seen in Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. Dad died in March, 1988.
