1890s-1920s: Snowflakes

“Wilson Alwyn “Snowflake” Bentley (1865–1931) is one of the first known photographers of snowflakes. He captured over 5,000 flakes on black velvet before they melted. He died of pneumonia on December 23, 1931, after walking six miles in a blizzard so he could photograph more snowflakes”

    Superb! It’s this kind of dedication amongst simple men or women that has advanced our understanding of the world around us. Just plain and simple “getting on with it”.

    Such a shame he had to pass in such a way, but I suppose, looking back, a fitting exit.
