This is one of my great-grandmother Johanna Brown’s scrapbook from 1929. Jo was a big scrapbooker — I have hundreds of pages from several scrapbooks from the late 1920s into the 1930s.
Jo is the girl with the Mary Pickford sausage curls — I don’t think she was allowed to “bob” her hair, though she never let that stop her from being a thoroughly modern gal.
I never met Jo, as she died before I was born, but she is infamous in our family for her wit & charm — something I think comes across so well in the captions and notes she left in her scrapbook. I am so thankful I get to know her through these things she left behind.
