Going through letters my grandfather sent to my family, this 1972 re-elect Nixon for president campaign stamp was affixed to one of his envelopes.
History has hardly judged Nixon a friend of peace, considering that he had four years prior as president to get out of Vietnam, and after being re-elected he bombed Hanoi and invaded Cambodia. Speaking for peace was the thing to do in the 1972 election cycle though, and both democrat and republican candidates were doing so. Please note the play on GOP and “Generation of Peace”.
