SS Celtic was launched in 1872. It famously collided with another White Star liner, Britannic, in 1887, killing 12 people aboard the other ship. It was sold to Denmark’s Thingvalla Line in 1893. Rechristened “SS Amerika”, it was in service until 1897, and was scrapped in 1898.
RMS Homeric originally launched as the German ship “Columbus” in 1913. It was ceded to Great Britain in 1919 as part of war reparations, and sold to White Star. Rechristened, she operated until declared surplus and finally scrapped in 1938. She was dismantled for scrap in 1933.
