“The Disney strike occurred during the making of the animated feature Dumbo, and a number of strikers are caricatured in the feature as clowns who go to “hit the big boss for a raise”. During the strike, animators from other studios volunteered their cars to form a motorcade around the Disney studio.

“The strike had an impact on Walt Disney. Before the strike he felt as if they were “one big family”, but after the strike he was not sure whether he could trust anyone. Walt eventually recovered for the most part but never quite forgave the people who had been part of the strike.”

There is a story that a strike also rose during the making of “Snow White”, part of the legend says the artists draw pornographic stills of the characters.

It seems Walt reached children, but never knew how to deal with adults…specially those he had to pay a salary.

Thank you for these images, I was not aware of disquiet within Disney world, but it stands to reason for I believe Walt was leaning towards the right and all would not be paradise within Disney world.

More importantly, did the people on strike ever forgive him?
