    In 1974, the Aerotrain broke the world land speed record for rail vehicles, at 430.2 km/h. The remainings of the Aerotrain track are still visible today near Orleans.

      Yes, it was a monrail built by Safege (Société Anonyme Française d’ Etude de Gestion et d’ Entreprises) in France as a test/concept/thingie.

    The last picture is of the General Motors Aerotrain that toured the US in the late 1950s, using standard rails.
