    Wow. That was a short set wasn’t it? I guess most people in Victorian times shifted from child to adult in the blink of an eye back then.

    My mother was a teenager in the 1930s, and she said that even then, there were few distinctive teenage styles. Once you grew out of children’s clothes, you wore adult clothes, with maybe a few faddish touches. When she was in high school, the fashionable way for girls to dress was to wear a short-sleeved sweater top, a pleated skirt, and saddle shoes with white socks.
