    Most people during this time did not realize these were actually baby chimps.

    The chimps used for test flights weren’t actually named until they returned successfully from a flight. Ham’s name is not just a weird and random choice – it’s an acronym of Holloman Aerospace Medical centre where he was raised and trained.
