Jones died in 1874 and this was not a posthumous publication! Reply RC January 11, 2012 Ditto on the date. I ran across this book many years ago and was struck by the fact that, no matter what the caption said was the style, the designs screamed “Victorian.” Reply Eve January 13, 2012 I think the reason why the designs remind you of the Victorian era, RC, is because many cultures became of great interest to the Victorians. I have a book published toward the end of that time which instructs how to make various screens and fans in a Japanese style and mentions how popular such things are to the western world at that time.
